Sophia attends the presentation of the restored version of L'oro di Napoli at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Olympic Games Opening Ceremony - February 10

Sophia is one of the eight women who symbolize peace, fraternity and communication among cultures selected to carry the Olympic Games flag at the Opening Ceremony in Turin.

Damiani Diamonds - March 3

World preview of the Sophia Loren Collection diamonds by Damiani at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills with Sophia accompanied by her son Edoardo and daughter-in-law Tashia.

Russian National Orchestra Concert - March 7
Sophia flies to New York where she and Martha Stewart are honorary chairmen at the 15th Anniversary Russian National Orchestra concert at the Avery Fisher Hall. Both ladies present Seattle philanthropist and software developer Charles Simonyi with the RNO's Silver Baton for his pioneering work in technology and for his patronage in the arts.

Commemorative Mass to John Paul II - April 3
Sophia attends with her sister Maria a commemorative mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI for the first anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican. The Vatican had called her and Ponti public sinners in the late 1950's with threats of excommunication.

Scicolone, Lazzaro, Loren - April 6
Sophia gives a press conference at the Palazzo Velentini for the inauguration of the long-awaited exhibit Scicolone, Lazzaro, Loren dedicated to her career which opens the next day at the Vittoriano Complex in Rome. The event is co-sponsored by Armani who designed her clothing for the event: a white silk dress with a white blazer for the press conference and red silk dress for the inauguration ceremony.

Mehta's 70th Anniversary Concert - April 10
Hours after those high emotions at the Rome exhibit openings, Sophia travels to Israel to attend the 70th birthday celebrations of Zubin Mehta, lifetime director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra and her close friend, at Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium.. Sophia also visited Israel on November 1999, on the occasion of Mehta's 30th anniversary as director of the Israeli Symphonic Orchestra.

Galileo 2000 - May 14

Sophia is in Florence to attend the Galileo 2000 ceremonies at the Palazzo Pitti where his son Carlo, Jr. receives the Pentagramma d'oro Award.

Golden Heart Awards - May 21

Sophia is patron of the Golden Heart Awards event for the second time in Moscow. The award was initiated by the Russian Red Cross, the news agency ITAR-TASS and the International Association of Business and Cultural Cooperation "Community of Daughters and Sons of the Motherland".

MSC Musica - June 29
Sophia as godmother christens the new cruise ship MSC Musica on Riva Sette Martini in Venice. This is the third ship she christens.

Pirelli Calendar Launching Ceremonies - November 16
Sophia attends Pirelli Calendar News Conference and Photocall at the Hilton Park Lane in London followed by cocktail reception and gala dinner at the Battersea Evolution.

The California Ranch the Pontis have had in Hidden Valley since 1981 goes for sale at $ 8.9 million dollars at the end of the month. Their main residence remains in Geneva, Switzerland.

Sophia Grandmother - May 12
Sophia's first grandchild, daughter of Carlo Jr. and actress Sasha Alexander, is born Lucia Sofia in Geneva.

Vicino alle Stelle Exhibit - April 9
Photography exhibit called Vicini alle stelle featuring photos by Secchiaroli opens in Milan with the publication of book titled Vicino alle stelle: Sophia e Marcello.

Pirelli Photo Session - June

Sophia, 71, poses in an Armani night gown, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Winoodh Matadin, for the famous Pirelli calendar. The photo session takes place in Pasadena, CA. About her experience Sophia says, "When I was asked to do the calendar of 2007, I was very happy because it was something I would have liked to do since a long time ago. I had a very nice contact with the photographer and so everything becomes very easy and you really kind of let you go in a very nice way. And this is what I did, I think."

Rome Film Festival - October
Sophia gets upset when she is not invited to the First Rome Film Festiival, which gets under way on October 13. Authorities announce she will be the main celebrity for the 2007 edition.

La Concordia Is Sold - December
Sophia's house in Hidden Valley is sold through Stacy Richardson of Dilbeck Realtor and Christies Great Estates.
