![]() Birth of Edoardo - January 6 Sophia
checks in the Geneva's
Cantonal Hospital on January 5 and gives birth to her
second son, Edoardo, the next day. Like his older
brother, Carlo Ponti, Jr., Edoardo is delivered by Caesarean section. The Ponti family stays
in
Geneva for the winter. Doctor De Watteville announces to Sophia that
she cannot have more children or she might risks death to have another
child. She tells the press that "This is my last baby" and refers to
Caesarean sections in an interview for McCall's magazine as "having
major surgery with your eyes opened".
Burton and Taylor Richard Burton, who just starred in another Ponti movie, arrives at the Villa with his entourage in preparation of Il viaggio, in which he plays opposite Sophia. Elizabeth Taylor arrives at the Villa Ponti on July 20 and joins Burton after a 17-day separation. She is Rome to shoot The Driver's Seat. Sophia greets her guest at the front door wearing a Dior suit, a Dior handbag, Dior shoes and Dior gloves. Even Taylor is petrified. She leaves the villa on July 30 and checks in at the Grand Hotel. Valentino Party - July 20 Sophia, Carlo and the couple Taylor-Burton, who are staying at the Pontis', all attend a dinner party at Valentino's house on Via Appia, which is near the Marino Villa, after the designer presented his new collection in Rome. William Morris Agency Sophia's interests are represented by William Morris Agency, the largest talent and literary agency in the world. |
