visits the Louvre Museum in Paris where she has her picture
taken next
to Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. She is given on the same day by Monnaie de
Paris a gold coin with the Mona Lisa on it.Barthet Hat Collection - March 15 Sophia is in Paris for the
presentation of new hat collection by French milliner Jean Barthet.
Madame Maud of Jean Barthet says of Sophia that "she loves hats. She
knows that a hat does something for her. And we love her, not only
because she wears our hats, but because she is a great person. In the
house, she is our queen.
Bambi Awards -
April 24Sophia is in Karlsruhe, West Germany, again to receive her fourth Bambi award in a row. Cannes Film Festival - April 29 Sophia is greeted at the Nice airport by a gilded chariot drawn by four white steeds. She refuses to mount the carriage and is driven in a limo to Cannes where the Festival opens the same night with a showing of The Fall of the Roman Empire. Sophia is also the honored guest of a reception at the Winter Casino, the inaugural event of the film festival. Coins bearing her profile as Lucilla and minted in gold and silver by the French treasury are distributed. Festival dates: April 29 through May 14. Operation Crossbow Press Conference - November 1 Sophia is at the Savoy Hotel in London with George Peppard to promote her new film. She denies she has adopted two children following a rumor she would be adopting a young girl from Naples. "Anyone who is capable of having children", Sophia says, "doesn't want to adopt other people's." Matrimonio

Crossbow is confirmed during her holidays.Hairdo Sophia's main hairdresser in 1964 is Italian Filippo di Roma on via Condotti. According to Time magazine, "rumours ran rampant through the village during the villa's renovations, including one about an excavated golden statue. Many architectural treasures would have also been unearthed, including hidden staircases and catacombs. Riccardo Scicolone under Investigation - July Sophia's father is, with 17 other individuales, under investigation after a denunciation for fraud was made to the police in Rome. Sophia to Adopt a Child - July Enraged villagers from Pozzuoli beat the mother of a little girl whom newspapers wrongly claim Sophia is going to adopt. The story of the proposed adoption, first published in a French newspaper and then picked up by the Italian press, is denied by Carlo and Sophia several times. Sophia met the Greco Giarelli family and their little girl Concetta in Pozzuoli while she was shooting Matrimonio all'italiana just a few weeks before. Sophia in Israel - July Sophia arrives in Israel on July 29 and spends ten days getting to know the country before she begins work in Judith. She visits the Lochamei Hagetaot museum, which houses an exhibit of Nazi Jewish persecution, several kibbutzim and an army camp. Sophia Threatened with Death - August Sophia receives a death threat letter, slipped under her door at the Dan-Carmel Hotel in Haifa, stating that she will be killed if she does not cancel her participation in the filming Judith in shot in Israel. She is guarded 24 hours everywhere she goes. New
Apartment in Paris

buys for more than $1 million an
ultra-modern apartment in Paris, on Avenue Georges-V, corner of
Pierre-Charron. The apartment occupies 6,500 square feet on three
floors. The seventh floor is for Sophia, the 8th for Ponti and the 9th
for friends, with an immense terrace on top. The new Parisian nest is
decorated by famous designer Isabelle Hebey.
Third Highest Income in Rome Sophia's income ranks third in Rome at $ 560,000 according to income tax estimates published at the end of December in Italy. |
